An Unbound Soul

Description
When Peter suffers a too-close encounter with a truck, he finds himself reborn in another world. At first glance it is a perfect fantasy land. There's magic to play with, elves singing in the forest and a hyperactive catgirl neighbour. There's even a System that lets him earn skills and level up. But it isn't long before he notices that the world is fartooperfect. Just why is everyone so nice? Can Peter accept the alien morality of this world's self-proclaimed protector, or will he seek to overthrow her?
Set after the events ofA Lonely Dungeon, a few hundred years after the rebirth of civilization, this is a story about an earthling falling into Erryn's new world and the subsequent struggles of himself and Erryn to understand each other. It's a slow paced slice of life, and while there are pieces of action, don't expect any immediate grand conflict between Erryn and Peter.

Note that since its original upload, the content has been replaced with a newer version with different chapter numbering. While I've updated author notes, I can't modify other people's comments, so where specific chapters are mentioned by number in comments you'll probably need to subtract five.

- bleakwinterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Found this after reading the story prior
Enjoying the flow of this and interested in where it is going , love the difference in seeing how everyone fits together.
Erryn is odd but enjoyable , complaining how he didn't go out of the system and then realising how she was still stuck with a large amount of the same issue
Looking forward to the changes that will be happening and how this causes different issues for the everyone - plotasaurusRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Honestly loved the book so much I'm making this review as I'm about to reread it which is a giant indicator that this book deserves five stars cause I have never read a book a second time. First an foremost (without giving any spoiler so I'm going to have to be a bit vauge) I love the system in this book it just hits all the right places as well as the lore that adds so much depth on to it Secondly the lore cause I don't know what ingredients were being used to cook BUT THEY MADE THE DISH cause the indepth forethought put in to every action is just magnificent I truly can't praise it enough the thought put into the action to action causing a snowball of history and culture in this world you just can't understand it till you read the book/(ie. The connected universe books the friendly voidling, an unwilling monster and most importantly a lonely dungeon) like how a system would affect a society considering classes like noble classes making monarchies viable changing the chance of monarchies being overthrown in real life anyway getting side tracked I fully recommend this book if you can't get enough of lore and fantasy oh and of course a main character getting stupidly overpowered and breaking the limits of the system the governs their reality without futher ado ill get back to this story that left me craving for more every single day, hour, minute, second since i finished it
- BedlessSleeperRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0tl;dr: Solid start, the future beholds greatness.
I noticed a few people gave talked about the start being boring or because they didn't think it was that unique or very special. The thing is with these kinds of stories, the beginning is usually just a blindfold covering our eyes, and it just takes time for the showman to build up his act so that once he takes the blindfold off, we would be truly shocked. There's already been a revelation in the inner workings of the current world, which changed the entire perception of the story. Won't spoil it, but it's all uphill from here. - Derek StormRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The character development is really well toughht out. The writter POV's from several differennt chharacters views. It adds a unique depth to the story. I am enjoying thhe read and think this will turn innto an amazing book once completed. Well, it's already amazing, but you know what I mean. The system is done well, and I'd love to live in this world. Danger and all.
The premis is also refreshing and is well thhought out. It takes into account the pre-conceptions and outsider would have entering this new world to them. The fears and suspicions of an adult in a childs body. - DrakilianRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I see a lot of people talking about how the story feels purposeless and I really strongly disagree. I'm of the opinion that in a lot of fiction whatever purpose is usually in play feels very forced - character motivations are too strong and perfect and precisely defined, with a tailored tragic backstory and the author's hand visibly dragging the protagonist in the direction of the plot. Sometimes, in fact the vast majority of the time, people just do things because they think it's fun and they like it or because they have vague, general feelings about the matter.
Peter does not need a war to fight against the Law and the god of this world to motivate him, he's introduced into an incredible and magical world with new ways of doing things and some difficult moral quandaries at play and he spends a lot of time exploring that and learning to look past pre-conceptions and ingrained beliefs while exploring the boundaries of the new world and life that he has been given.
You might think from some other reviews as well as my own that the story has bad pacing (as this is normally the case in stories that people consider purposeless) but the story is actually quite well paced, events do not overstay their welcome and things move forward rather quickly, I've never felt like anything dragged on and new discoveries are constantly being made.
Characters are also much better written than they are given credit for. Peter himself is an exceedingly well written protagonist, who engages in a lot of introspection and learning as the story goes on. Other characters are interesting in their own ways for how their personaility expresses itself through their limited circumstances, or for their unique perspectives.
After having read this story for nearly a year it remains one of a small handful that I am still excited for every single update. I really recommend you give it a shot. - JamesArkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is very well made. I love how Peter has limits when he is still a baby, too many authors made they mc do push-up when they are toddlers, come on. It's impossible and unhealthy.
The progression is linear so far, without a huge power-up. It's early and there will be one, but through training and not given by a superior power. It isn't the author's style.
The relationship between Peter and Cluma is adorable, She is so cute. We all need a dose of hugs by Cluma. They will warm your day.
I prefer a system that doesn't limit the number of skills one can get, but this is very well made.
I hope Peter will have more mage-like magic. Lightning bolts, Ice fields, etc. I love his use of it, I understand why. he doesn't have the affinities, but hope is the last to die. At least space and time magic offensively.
This novel is a must-read.
I need 200 words.

It is a good read. I am happy to recommend it.
I like in particular while the MC is a bit OP it just adds interest and helps at this point of the story with the progression - A lad that readsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5pretty good.
Characters are great story is intruiging and writing doesnt really feel like it has any big problems. my only nitpick keeping me from giving a perfect score is that i think the parts of the story where you see the exact same events happening from some one else's perspective can be less detailed or include other events than those wich transpired from the mc's perspective the previous chapter. it feels like im readig the same chapter twice on some occasions. If I, as a non writer could give anything as constructive critisism it would be to try making them feel more like side stories that happen to have the same events happen in them as the main story. so they feel less like theyre just the main plot line retold. the erryn parts feel a lot closer to what im talking about than for example the mom's perspective, erryn has her own interests ideas and plans that just happen to include the mc. the mom feels like she has nothing going on outside of her son and sewing shes still likeable enough tho becasue the mc cares about her so you get attached to her by association but i feel shes missing something but im not a good enough writer to tell you what that is, anyway i hope this review is a bt helpfull for the writer and hope i dont have to wait too long for new episodes to come out. ( this was written when chapter 37 was the newest release for future reference. - ZagarothRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Story & characters: So, I love the depth of this world, from the depths of how things work and tie together to the excellent and distinct cast of characters. Admittedly some of the side characters blur a little bit given the length of something being published episodic like this, but that seems to be endemic to all stories with a large cast, and more so in this format.
Grammar score: If I don't notice anything wrong, that means it must be doing everything either right or close enough to not matter. There's really never much to say in this category if there isn't anything in particular.
Style: I like almost everything about the author writes, but there is a flaw which, based on the comments the author has made in replies to others, will likely be avoided in future stories. Basically, there is a sort of random fetish that gets attached to the main character at a certain point, and after that point it keeps coming up. Having it reoccur a few times as a gag would be one thing, but now it keeps showing up, and it would be inexplicable in universe if it just stopped showing up. And it's even stranger because there is no actual sex going on.
Thankfully, it's never a really big thing, making it a minor annoyance that can be easily ignored for me at least. But since it's the only real issue I have with it over all, it needed a bit of detail in case there are any for whom it might be a bigger issue. - luda305Royal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a good read, but the harder you think about it, the more difficult it is to take seriously.
The author has done a great job setting up a LitRPG system (which is very hard to do), and a lot of Peter's character in the first 50ish chapters is a really fascinating take on alienness and psychology.
There are I think two major faults.
First, not too far in, the story sets itself up with a clear goal for the protagonist. Somewhat inexplicably, the goal becomes pointless shortly thereafter when the "goddess" finds an alternate solution to her problem (which on a meta-level, had to do with the author wanting to get the exposition done sooner rather than later). And yet, the story continues to move forward towards that same goal. So there is no longer a driving force behind the plot. The loss of the original goal would be fine if a new one popped up (even if it was ten chapters later), but it's been (seemingly) dozens of chapters and we're just in slice of life mode with no goal. Slice of life is fine, but the loss of the driving force is felt keenly (better to have loved and lost).
Second, the protagonist's character either (depending on perspective) takes a severe turn or gets stuck in a rut. He repeatedly makes the same mistakes over and over again, and gets away with relatively minor and nonpermanent consequences. This is particularly frustrating given the current slice of life mode; if the story is going to move that slowly and that detailed, we should at least have significant character development from the protagonist, especially when it comes to facing obstacles.
That said, I would recommend it and I'm not dropping it. I suspect that after the protagonist completes the original goal, a new driving force to the plot will pop up. Frankly, that's coming way too late in the story (perhaps near chapter 90 or 100) which is a detriment to the work as a whole. But once it comes back, I would expect that reading it chapter by chapter will improve.
