- Born Under a Black SunRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm definitely enjoying this so far, the beginning of An Ordeal of Frost had a super interesting start that really locked me in! So many great worldbuilding ideas too, like a golem that's actually a half-carved statue. I don't think I've ever seen any fantasy art where a golem is actually a work of art and not a pile of boulders. The Bloodtrust is another very cool concept.
And of course I have to give props to anyone who puts in the work of actually writing poem/songs for their story. And the description of the feel of the magic and the magic spell works very well. I guess (illustration 1) refers to the cover art (which I love, by the way).
The prose is great, especially in Frost. My favorite line might have been "Every fleck of bone and strand of silk will be unmade by the weight."
