Description

"Peace... What a laughable dream."

Zhou Yang was a man of principle, discipline, and a love so deep it defined his world. A former soldier turned corporate professional, he carried his burdens quietly, masking his pain beneath a calm, smiling face. His wife, Ying, was the only light in his life—a light extinguished far too soon.

Her death shattered him. With no reason left to live, Zhou Yang embraced the void, choosing to end his own life in a desperate attempt to reunite with her in the afterlife.

But fate had other plans.

When Zhou Yang opened his eyes, he didn’t find the gates of the underworld or the River Styx. Instead, he awoke in a grand chamber filled with priceless artifacts, silken drapes, and the unmistakable aura of power and prestige. A world of martial arts, ancient clans, and celestial ambitions awaited him—a world where the strong ruled, and the weak were nothing but stepping stones.

Reborn into the body of a young heir in an ancient clan, Zhou Yang must navigate the treacherous paths of cultivation, power struggles, and ruthless foes. Armed with his sharp mind, unyielding will, and a heart tempered by confidence and humility, he embarks on a journey not to conquer the heavens but to find peace within his turbulent soul.

But in a world where conflict is inevitable and strength defines worth, can Zhou Yang ever find the peace he craves? Or will his journey only lead him further from it?

This is the story of a lost soul, a man broken by love, and his relentless pursuit to mend the pieces—no matter the cost.

Solid start so far, though nothing really groundbreaking. Author's either a really big "student of the game" so to speak or they're using AI to help with worldbuilding and story beats. The actual prose and dialogue is well-constructed, and very comfortable to read. Still in the early stages, so we haven't met too many characters; while the background characters thus far are stock and rather predictable (again, either because of the author loving xianxia, because of AI, or both) the protagonist feels fresh, and the reader's made to feel a lot of empathy with him right off the bat. All in all, great story, and I'm looking forward to reading more!
