"Jude, you can tell me everything you feel," Maxie said, his voice steady but distant. "But don't forget-I have a girlfriend I'm committed to."

The words cut deeper than I expected, and as he stepped back, colder than ever, I struggled to hold back my tears. I forced a smile, hiding the storm of unrequited love that had been growing quietly in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

But life has a way of twisting what we thought was certain. After nights of tangled emotions and impossible choices, I found myself trembling in Maxie's arms. He held me tightly, his breath warm against my ear as he whispered, "...I don't want to lose you. My heart is yours."
