- F r a nRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Starting of I found the start really edgy, however I continued reading and I was very pleasantly surprised. This is a story about kids/young adults broken by war opening up and healing, intermixed with combat and death.
I enjoy the constant emotional uncertainty and the unpredictable actions /plot decisions. However I highly disapprove of the adults/teachers being largely incompetent / 1 dimensional as I believe it trades some possible high tension conflicts for easy buzz rushes and it lowers the readers suspension of disbelief.
Overall I recommend the novel, for anyone who enjoys a emotional journey. - CimmerianRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I'm giving the author an extra star more than I otherwise might in acknowledgement of the story being well written, but not my style.
I couldn’t make it through the first chapter, the preteen “I have no talent, so I’ll commit suicide” angst plus the saccharine “I saw you with the gun in you mouth, so I thought I’d approach; let’s be friends” made me immediately go full stop. No to suicide. No to babies in time loops. No to kids mysteriously having guns.
Ill give a couple stars to promote the time loop genre, plus a star for tech + magic. Half star for putting out lots of chapters I won’t read.
