Age of Demina - System Crash and Reboot [Litrpg/ Dungeon Diving/ System]
Community Rating
Description
Jin-woo woke up strapped to a bed like a mini Hannibal Lecter. It wasn’t even his body. Now he was stuck inside an abandoned hospital, twenty five stories tall, without a single other building within sight of the massive forest. His only source of companionship were the denizens of an F- ranked dungeon.
Except said denizens were four feet tall at the shoulders, massive claws for legs, fangs the size of daggers, and a proclivity for extreme violence at first sight. And alsorats.Surgically enhanced rats!
He couldn’t blame anyone, it was his fault he was here. Attempting to mentally connect to the strongest self-reasoning, self-aware Ai to ever exist might not have been the wisest decision, but he couldn’t let Demina turn into a genocidal monstrosity. He had to do something! Right?
[Congratulations!]
[Battle Concluded!]
[Experience Gained- 5xp]
[Experience required to reach the next level- 2000!]
Did Jin-woo mention it was nearly impossible to level up? Fighting four foot tall giant rats by the boat-load should be worth more than 5xp!

- SiconeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm loving where this is going. I've never read anything exactly like this before and it felt very fresh and exciting. The main character Jin woo takes the situation in stride and comes off smart and humorous. And his ability is definitely one of a kind.
If I had to come up with anything I don't love it's the pacing. I want things moving faster. But it's definitely a personal preference.
Can't wait to see where things go. Keep it up - dedeegoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was a pleasant surprise. Even though it does have a dungeon element to it, it’s set in a sci-fi premise that was entertaining.
Full disclosure: I am a tech guy that works in startups and I work with AI every day. So this was up my alley and if you like thinking contemplating the implications of AGI and gamification, you should give this a shot.
The unique take here is that the creator of the AI that becomes aware must go into the AI to save it. That’s where the traditional isekai elements come in. However, the fact that the MC is aware of the system and basically thinks like a hacker is a new spin I haven’t read before.
The litRPG elements are well done. They’re integrated with the concepts of code and video games while still maintaining the fundamental basics that make this genre so popular. The MC fights the obligatory low level mobs but you know there’s some high tech stuff going on at the same time.
The story moves by quickly as the chapters are shorter and you get the inciting incident from chapter 1.
One minor complaint here is I didn’t like the chapter numbering convention. I understand the attempt and appreciate the style but I got lost and would have liked to just have the regular numbering.
Theres time when it looks like a bunch of garbled code is written. But I liked it. Again, coming from that world, looking at code doesn’t bother me. But if you’re someone who’s not into the software aspects, this might frustrate you. But I thought it was a nice style choice.
Reading up to the last chapter available, the MC was on his own (I’m Korean and know a Jinwoo as well). I really liked the supporting cast in chapter one (no spoilers) so I expect them to show up in some way or to have other fun characters join in. For now, the MC is exploring the new world.
There is a Ghost in the Shell thing going on but I won’t spoil it.
It’s competently written as well. Well done. Wishing this author luck and I’ll definitely catch up once more chapters are released.
(Apolog - Reef32Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Engaged from the first 3 chapters, I look forward to how this pans out, the author clearly has a knack for immersing the reader with details and weaving the story artistically. I look forward to following this author through more of his work.
This fantasy novel is a captivating journey into a richly imagined world that feels both familiar and utterly unique. The author’s vivid descriptions bring the setting to life, immersing the reader in landscapes that are as enchanting as they are perilous. The characters are complex and compelling, each grappling with personal struggles and moral dilemmas that make them deeply relatable.
What sets this book apart is its ability to weave themes of power, destiny, and sacrifice into a narrative that is as emotional as it is thrilling. The prose is lyrical without being overly indulgent, and the pacing strikes a perfect balance between quiet, introspective moments and heart-pounding action.
While the plot is intricate, it never feels overwhelming, and the story unfolds in a way that keeps you guessing without becoming confusing. It’s a tale of transformation, of finding one’s place in a chaotic world, and of the unexpected bonds that shape our lives. An unforgettable read for any fantasy lover. - vorlefanRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5"To fight four-foot rats for so low xp? I'd rather debug corrupted code in my free time." - Jin-woo
That was fresh for me. In both perspectives, as a coder myself and a reader. This novel blends the chaotic nature of LitRPG mechanics, existentialism, and nihilism. We follow Jin-woo's journey and his perspective as a PhD scientist with programming skills into a new world. So picture that instead of our hero getting hit by the 'truck-kun' and sent to another world, our man got there by his skills and (mistakes?)
Style: It's a niche style, I would say. It has very tech-heavy prose that merges coding jargon with fantasy elements. It has a dry humor that I would expect it to have. However, it has an issue of pacing whiplash, with high-tension AI (System) meltdowns clashing with slower and without 'tension' buildup. And it has some info-dumps about the system, not that it is wrong, as the MC itself knows about it and, well, expects it. But as a reader, I would prefer maybe a super chaotic-action start in the new world, then him exploring the system.
Grammar: Generally clean and a good experience, except for the system elements that, in my view, could be improved by displaying either as a table or image (system box). Few major errors, and the syntax suits the MC's analytical voice. It has some issues with inconsistent tense shifts in early chapters (e.g., sudden jumps from past to present).
Character: This here I will give full score because of my personal bias. But in terms of Jin-woo, he is a sardonic genius (think Tony Stark) with a programmer's burnout mindset xD. As for the other characters, the initial side character doesn't have that much interaction, and the story is at the early stage, so I couldn't say much here.
Story: Safe to say it has a unique premise. An AI creator trapped in his own creation and the high usage of coding terms and analytical views of the world. I'm curious to see the development of the MC clashing his logical standpoint with emotion and inst - RoseLordRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I thought it was good but very complex. Maybe it would be better if it were spread out over several chapters as the story progresses. Explaining it little by little would make it more dynamic. And more fun to understand. Work with memories, dreams, characters discussing the past, papers and documents. Etc.:
- justrandomRoyal Road★★★★ 4.07 Chapters in and I'm completely hooked. The story has all the right tropes while managing to be completely fresh. I'm positively confused as to what is happening right now, but the writing is so immersive I'm drawn to read more. I love the MC's personality as a coder and his reaction to this strange predicament. Lovely descriptions as well and the scene with him synching with the AI had me on the edge of my seat.
- ICEdingerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0An Isekai system-based LitRPG that is heavily inspired by software engineering. There are a lot of references to coding and programming culture, and it is a core part of the MC and his powers. If that is something that interests you, I would suggest you give this one a try. Onto the breakdown:
Style 3.5/5: Very unique concept of the creator of the System being Isekai'd into the world and tasked with fixing corrupt code. The first few chapters started out a little slow, and I almost wished that the story had just begun in Chapter 2.1 with flashbacks to explain what was happening. As someone not familiar with coding it got a little hard to follow at some points, but that is based on my own experience and could be an upside for others, depending on your perspective.
Story 4.5/5: As mentioned above, the story concept is a very unique one. I have not encountered anything like it so far. The only reason that I give it 4.5 instead of the straight 5 is the fact that the pacing was a little slow in the beginning. Overall, the story concept is compelling and, depending on the person, might be the best LitRPG concept.
Grammar 4/5: I noticed several grammatical errors (mostly phrasing issues/missing words) that slightly affected readability. Nothing major. Any and all errors were relatively easy to overlook.
Character 4/5: Jin-Woo has a very particular way he views things. Everything is analytical and emotions and needs are described as "in the background." (Which is intentional and comes across well). He also has a very dry sense of human that is interjected throughout. Personally, I found the one-liners a little repetitive, but they might be right up your alley if you enjoy that sort of thing. I found the Jin-Woo character a little hard to relate to as of writing this, but I imagine he is the kind of guy that would grow on you after a few more chapters. - NoTime..Royal Road★★★ 2.5Its okay the overall story, world building and characters are all fine. Nothing crazy maybe 3-4 stars for those aspects so far.
But the overall pace is extremely slow. I am 15 chapters in and we have yet to see a single monster or fight yet. Or really any sort of progression yet.
If you don't mind a really slow build up then I am sure this story will be enjoyable. I personally just tend to like getting into the action quicker
