Aetheria's Ascent is a cozy and comfortable (at least, that’s how it feels to me it is decidedly not cozy genre-wise) read that shows massive potential if polished. I feel that it wears its inspiration on its sleeve, but manages to be more than sufficiently unique enough to be distinct. While I believe the central enigma of the story can be characterized better than the way it was, it is still nice to see.
None of the characters in this story feel particularly shallow either, with plenty of characterization given to any character with a decent amount of spotlight. The main leads aren’t insanely competent, just strategically minded.
Worldbuilding also received plenty of focus with this story. I really like the idea of ships being made out of simple silhouettes and this story takes it to the extreme with ships being cubical and spherical etc. Weapons systems are also decently named but sometimes I feel they could use a little more  elaboration.
That doesn’t mean Aetheria’s Ascent is without its weaknesses, however. Chief among them is the fact that sometimes the chapters lack polish — a lot of the chapters can do with some proofreading. However, the quality of the writing demonstrably improves as the story continues, and I hope that everybody gives them some more grace as english is not their native language.
If you read this, nova, thanks for writing and have a wonderful day!

Overall, I'm enjoying this story right now. It has an engaging plotline with some good world building. So far I'm okay with the pacing, and the main character's development. I do feel that at times her development comes second to the space battles, but that is just my personal opinion.
My biggest dislike is the rough grammar and spelling. Aetherias Acent has the potential to be a pretty good Space Opera story, but some of the errors just take me out of it. I completely understand that English is not the authors first language, and I'm not criticizing the sentence structure, but some of these mistakes could be corrected by running the text through a spell check program. Oddly enough, I'd compare the consistency of the grammatical errors to an inverse bell curve, it started off fine, got worse, but in the past 15 chapters has gotten better.
However, if you can overlook the spelling errors, you'll be in for a real treat of a story. As far as my rating, it would definitely be a 5, if it got a grammatical overhaul, but for now it is a 3.75 (rounded up to a 4).
Nevertheless, I am eagerly awaiting the next chapter and would like to see where the author with take the plot next!

    Edit:
Be aware that this story contains warcrimes.
The mc basically at one point decides to just "kill/sloughter" 100.000+ defenseles civilians that were trying to flee from her out of nowhere. She doesnt do it by accident, its a concious decision of her and imo its completely unjustifiable in this situation.
I think this action and the fact that there appears to be 0 remorse for it fundamentally makes the mc evil, like she could shake hands with the worst dictators that have lived on earth and not feel out of place. I personally do not mind reading evil mc stories but in this one it sure came almost out of nowhere and was at least imo completely unnecesarry.
    Original review:
The story has potencial to be truely awesome. Its not there yet and has some flaws that might prevent it from getting there but its intresting non the less.
As of now the meat of the story is very centered around action. That means space battles. Some readers say it gets repetetive, but at least for me it did not feel this way.
My main concerns are that the plot grows very complex very fast with many moving pieces in the background that are not really connected to the mc and the main story. We will have to wait how that pans out. I have a hard time to imagine a way for most of those plot threads to come together without causing a headache. So be prepared to experience a decent number of ongoing background plot threads that run concurrently to the main story revolving around our mc.
There are a decent number of spelling and grammar errors. But as far as I can see the Author is working on resolving those. The chapters he already edited are perfectly serviceable.
Overall a solid binge for a weekend. Would recommend this to anyone that like space ships and action.

I like the story and characters, but the grammar is a bit scrappy. I think even with the normal autocorrect in Word, there would be an improvement.
The setting and characters have big potential and if you are looking for some soft space opera, this story is worth reading (if you can stomach the typos and grammar issues).

It has potential and it's interesting enough that I did manage to get to the latest chapter (66) as of typing. The fact it's inspired by ShipCore was a massive plus to me. But the constant errors in grammar, wrong use of to and too, then and than, tons of spelling mistakes and excessive use of comma (sometimes every word in a dialogue has it) is just making it very hard to read. It does get less the more you continue but not until you're 40+ chapters in. They're usually small enough on their own but with how numerous it is, especially on some early chapters where every paragraph has an error or two, it gets hard to ignore. For me in particular, that gets very annoying. Some measurements got me confused since this story uses both periods and commas like when it's telling how much light-years they travelled in numbers. Whether it's a decimal or a thousand. Common sense dictates it's thousands since this is on space but I don't expect everyone to get to the same conclusion.
The part where May first introduced herself without any uniform but a casual hoodie while trying to appear as a patriotic captain on a formal setting is very dumb and absolutely stupid. It's like asking to be underestimated when they were trying to appear far more powerful than them.
It doesn't have any consequences in the long run but it's still in my mind ever since.
I would hate it when the story doesn't get the attention it deserves solely because of grammatical mistakes. Hopefully this rating serves as a reminder for the author to finally give their novel the editing love it so finally deserve but readers to still give this novel a go.

Typos galore. Too many info dumps, I skipped most of those to prevent my eyes from falling out due to boredom. The story is a great idea, it actually is interesting, but you need to edit badly. Like you need to edit BADLY. Do that, and the story will be improved tremendously in my opinion.
