I rarelly ever do reviews, but this one deserved it. Excelent world building, with lots of particular aspects carefully explained, the characters have diferent and well-defined personalities, the grammar is excelent and the MC isn't outright overpowered, although his circumstances give him a very unexpected edge in this universe.
Even though it's still on chapter 14, I can see this universe has immense potential, and the author has lived up to it so far.

An elegant magic system, and an interesting world. This is one of the best I have read. The novel lacks the boring fluff but still makes the world interesting and clear. Read it if you enjoy any sort of modern magic novel.

One of the most enjoyable stories I've been reading on royalroad.
Chapter length is thankful very generous and the quality is what I'd expect from a novel I'd pay money for.
    Can't recommend this enough.

People here are freaking out. We are not entitled to anything. The story so far has been uniquely ejoyable so far, and is a great story. The fact that the author did not finish it does not detract from the fact that it is a great story.
While I find OP's situation deeply disturbing and hope he is not being taken advantage of, we should not rate the work he has done any lower because we disagree with his decision to stop writing.
The sense of entitlement is a little frusturating. Compared to 99% of the content on this site this story is a gem.

I dropped this novel after I finished reading 2nd chapter. MC just didn't make sense. Someone just messes with his mind, against his will and he almost thanks her.
Edit: I gave this novel a second chance, and I think I can understand MC choices.
I like this novel writing style, I didn't saw any grammar mistaces, chapters are long. Only bad thing is that beginning MC choices are not really explaind and feel forced so 4,5 stars for this.

Update 8/20/18:  The author has dropped the story and has indicated they will not be writing futher here or anywhere else. The story was very enjoyable, but please do not start, since there will most likely not be a conclusion to this story.
Exceedingly well thought out, the story is a masterpiece. Few stories on the site make me as giddy to keep reading as this one does. Although the tag states fantasy and magic, this story honestly reminds me more of a classic superhero story, where each person's abilites have slight quirks to them. The term heros and villains are left out, and in replace of those we have the Mafia families and the Shepherds. Bt everything isn't always black and white.
Like Toph from Avatar the Last Airbender, our protagonist turns a disability into an overwhelming advantage. The magic system is very well done, and every character feels alive and fleshed out. The quality of writing is spectacular, and it would not surprise me if this became published.
I enjoy it when weak ability users overcome their obstacles by being tactical, similar to Taylor's in wildbow's Worm, who can only control insects. How does someone compete against superman-level powers with such a weak ability? By thinking outside the box.
