Description
Book 1 and 2 of the Redmage series are being published on Amazon Kindle Unlimited. Due to the exclusivity clause, I have been forced to take down the vast majority of the book. You can read book onehere. Book twohere.Drew Michalik was working in a top-secret facility in Washington, D.C. when the Advent began. As all electronics in the world simply ceased to work, blue screens filled with information appeared before him.
Drew gained access to a mana interface and a limited number of reality-altering crystals called Xatherite. Following the instructions on his vision-impairing screens, he ‘slotted’ his Xatherite and changed his fate: he gained the ability to cast spells. Now alone in the dark, he must battle through the government bunker-turned-dungeon in a desperate bid for survival.
Escape is only the beginning; the first of his many problems in the changed world. Drew will be tasked to not only survive… but to guide the rest of humanity safely through the anarchy.
Light LitRPG elements, no harem.
Updates on Monday.

- chazziRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Verry well written so far. Minor to no grammer issues.
Interesting, suspenseful and engaging story.
Interesting and pretty unique system/magic system.
Characters are reasonable rational and relatable.
So far no info dumps, quite streamlined world/system exploration.
Definitely a cut above the average on this site. And i whole heartedly recommend giving this story a try.
Thank you author and i wish you success with this story!! - FroginapondRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a great read with a well thought out plot.
- OwlishRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I started reading this while book 1 was on royal road. I like the story, I like the main character, and the grammar is good. But there are quite a few questions set up in the first book that likely won't be answered for a while.
- Psyren1596Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just binge read everything..... this is turning out to be a great webnovel.
The magic system is different and refreshing. I also enjoy how the author depicts the emotions and thinking patterns for the people caught up in this apocalyptic situation. - RaevanRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An extremely well written book, I suggest reading it!
- HegendRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Electric power=our current civilisation. If it goes out, then the civilisation is over too...
- InnominatusRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is an excellent LitRPG System Apocalypse novel. I actually read the Kindle commercial edition, so I imagine it is more polished than what is presented here.
The magic system was the most interesting aspect for me, the main character not so much. Still, there is lots of great character growth and power gain with a few interesting support characters.
Unfortunately, I did not enjoy the second book in the series as much. While the magic system continued to evolve and impress, the characters became less interesting and more annoying. - Daniel VickermanRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Red mage is a well written story with an interesting magic system that takes the mod-ability of games like Path of Exile and incorporates it in an ambitiously creative system that must be hell for the author to maintain. Intellectually I love the system but the way it's implemented leaves a lot to be desired. In this story a persons power is permanently capped by their Xatherite layout, which is based on their personality. The MC is a fairly bland sort of guy but is somehow the strongest mage on earth because he has a bad temper that he keeps bottled up (I'm paraphrasing).
It really stretches believability that he is the only one with that kind of power out of billions of people. What's even the point of a system when everyone but the main character and a few others are basically useless? It honestly feels overly restrictive just to make the main character look better. There are better ways to make a character OP without stripping power from everyone else, especially in a story with so many characters.
That all said I enjoyed the first book, but the second made me quickly lose interest. It practically changes genre overnight from an action story to one about politics and drama, something I read litrpgs to get away from. All of a sudden the MC loses all agency and momentum, easily falling into a subordinate role once he reaches what is left of civilization. You'd think you wouldn't run into that problem from the most powerful mage on earth but there it is. I understand the desire to expand the story but the ever increasing set of characters I don't care about, doing things I don't care for, really waters down the experience. - DealWithItRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Really enjoyed book 1.
MC seems to be kind of along for the ride in the beginning of book 2. I hope he becomes more in control of things around him and becomes less usable by ppl.
Looking forward to seeing what's in book 2. - SpiralBakaRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Title: Advent: Red Mage
Genre: Action, Fantasy
Protagonist: a guy with talent in magic.
Setting: a modern world turned apocalypse. but they are still in the starting building
Tension Level: Medium - High
Basic Premise: the mc was in the basement of some building when the apocalypse happened. now he have to get outside without the help of electricity.
Chapter Content: how the mc get through the situation while fighting monsters, using magic.
Chapter Reached: 10
Personal Opinion: a unique magic system where the number of spell one can learn is limited by luck/talent. not much to say since there's nothing unique other than that. well, it's not bad, but... it's not good enough for me to continue. maybe it's just not for me...
