Abby and Violet (Yuri Light Novel)

Description

This story follows the two titular characters as they develop as individuals together.

When they first meet right before an exam to graduate into high school, Violet doesn't quite know what to think of Abby, but once they are reunited at the same class, Abby dives right in and offers to be her friend. With that, Violet, who's introverted, worrywart and the target of Abby's teasing, now has to learn how to be a friend, while Abby, who's extroverted, seemingly with no filter, has to deal with her own hidden issues.

Their story is one of opposites attracting, learning about oneself, to let others in, and of letting go.

    ★★ 2.0
    1-3 volumes - 4.5 star.
After that I would put 0 stars, because one little thing puts the story in a "weird" spot, some will say even worse than "weird". But about it later.
First, this is 99% school GL slice of life. Very niche but if you like the genre you probably would like this story. Weak points: no ambitions in both plot (the most standard school life with a bit of family drama) and in characters themselves (the most standard teenagers), occasional artificial characters and interactions, confusing timeline between chapters, and lack of world building. Overall I was confused until I finally resigned wondering and settled on a parallel Earth because nothing made sense in culture and surroundings.
Volume 4 and beyond... There is a veeeery dubious ship involving Violet's father. It spawned out of nowhere, doesn't make any sense, and both MCs were helping the ship to sail. For me that ship is basically pedophilia (even though both are of legal age). Not just age gap, but the mental age and the past of that another character really does not make it better, and who that another character is. And it gets worse. Ruined all characters and the whole story for me.
I wish I never read it past 3rd volume, and did not peek at the latest chapters to confirm my previous statement.
