- CodeBreakerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Abattoir is a blood-slicked ballet of brutality. From the first chapter, it lunges like a blade to the throat and doesn’t relent. Rhys Trefor isn't just a character; he's a force of carnage, grief, and vengeance incarnate. Evercrest weaves violence and pain into poetry, and every scene drips with psychological depth and grim precision. It's all slaughter, it's gory, and it’s glorious. I need more. I crave more.
- Irina PalmovaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Even though the story is only three chapters in so far, the author has absolutely delivered on the tags and the premise! Packed with action, blood, and violence—it’s been a wild, fun ride. I’ll be patiently (or maybe not so patiently) waiting for more—great job! Give it a chance, people!
- ViduraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This one's all action and brutal slaughter from the start. The setting’s grimdark, the MC is completely unhinged and there’s a crazy crew we’ve just started to see. So far, it hits all the tags, and the author does a great job building intense, skin-crawling scenes. If you're into John Wick-style violence with a not-so-sane protagonist, definitely worth checking out
- Aloof WritesRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Rhys is interesting MC. We know relatively little about him, but paying attention to his actions and attitude reveal a lot. He has a simple a brutish approach to his mission, but it seems in this instance the complex and shady organization he's facing aren't ready for it.
The action is quick and decisive, which is fitting for this violent hyper-realistic style. Attacks have weight, and mistakes feel costly. Also like that Rhys is creative in his approach to combat. Using his environment and improvised weapons effectively. Will be reading more later! - yabadabadontRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I have given this ratings as they stand with this story having 13 chapters and 58 pages with the following justification.
1.a. writing style.
there is a tasteful mix of moments with more stylistic wordings and being able to clearly understand the point the author is trying to convey. there is nothing striking that sets the writing apart from the start but that is not a requirement and can actually be quite a pittfall that this author has managed to avoid. so far there is nothing off putting to me as a reader about the stylistic choices the author has made and it comfortably sits in a middle ground. this however is likely going to change as the author advances the fiction and the story itself gains it's own style as most fictions tend to do, this one too most likely has it but it is too subtle for me to pick up due to my lacking skills.
1.b. thematic style
the author sets the world in a more gritty and dark environment that fits well with the characters. there isn't much of a departure from the modern world and this helps to give the reader a better connection to the events transpiring in the story and get a better feel for them as the story progresses. certain aspects of violence are used again and again as a motif that shows the characters conviction and what the world is about.
2.a. story score (vibes)
the story has no glaring issues with the characters justifications and and/or reasonings. the worldbuilding is not in the readers face but is also prominent enough to give the reader a feel for the world and environment the characters are in. the story so far does not just contain violence, violence and more violence but there are questions for the readers to ponder and solve as the plot progresses. the author tends to lean more towards outright describing a characters actions or a scene rather than trying to show it through more elaborate methods but personal preference can be a factor here as I personally much prefer descriptions to be far more complicated than t
