A Wish

Description
This is a story where there are no heroes and no villains. This is a tale about revenge, despair, and hope. This is a story where the truth is constantly hidden deep beneath the surface, and nothing is ever as it initially appears. The world is a stage. Every character has their part to play before their exit. They are actors, dancing on a stage set for them while searching for the truth behind the façade. Only time will tell whether they will be able to escape their predestined fate, to search for their happy end, or whether the promised end is nothing more than, a wish.
Author's Note: Update will be very unpredictable as I travel quite a bit for my work.

- ArthicernRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Alright to begin, I think when people read the discription on this story they're going to walk into something very different from what they were expecting. Because the description and name for this story as well as the opening chapters leave me expecting a fantasy novel of some sort with a soon to be isekaied protagonist. But after a few chapters this story reveals itself to be a Crime Drama about vengeance, family, legacies, and paranoia with a supernatural element tinging everything in the background with a hint of mystery.
This story's writing style is my favorite part to it all, having this sort of old time-y vibe that fits with theater motif of the intermissions while also underlining the more dramatic tones of the story. Though given some other elements this does lead to what feels like the occasional anachronism or a fairly jarring scene as seen at one point.
I'll admit the grammar is something of a weak point at times, though the style makes me question if beyond the occasional misplaced letter they're actual mistakes or just the way the style changes the feel of the sentence different from the day to day writing styles.
The story itself is still early enough at the time of this review that I can't give too much away without spoilers involving assassinations, vengeance, and misdirection that keeps the story flowing despite jumping between various characters at a pace that can be both fast and slow chapter to chapter while still weaving in the occasional mystery in the background.
The characters themselves at first come off as somewhat one dimensional in the early chapters, but as the story's nature as a crime drama begins every character (still alive at this point) begins showing off what lies behind their various masks giving them a depth not first scene.
All in all while the opening chapters to this story may leave you wanting with it's apparent flatness, if you can push through them I feel you'll find a Crime Drama worth reading hiding beneath that early - BullerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0"I meant it in the sense that we can get something like this."
"We just go from one " " to the other without much in the middle."
"It works for quick conversational pieces but when it is done through the full chapter, it becomes a bit annoying."
"The need for more a descriptive setting is needed before I can rate this highly."
At least not too many issues with grammar. Has promise overall.
