- the_random_userRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I should preface by saying this novel wasn't really able to keep my interest, but at the same time I could certainly see how someone else could enjoy it. I was only able to get through the first 3 chapters, but that's mainly because I couldn't self insert on the main character at all, not because the quality of the novel is lacking.
There are no grammatical errors as far as I can see and no bad sentace structures or run on sentences, so it's comfortable to read.
Writing style can be a bit awkward at times; interactions are slightly odd, but not too bad. This seems more from this being their first novel than being intentional. Pacing seems fine atleast.
Story I won't really comment on as I didn't get much of it.
Character is what made me stop, but as you can see from the rating, it's just not for me rather than being bad. I'm almost certain that someone could have a much easier time reflecting off the main character than me, and they would find enjoyment reading them (watamote enjoyers maybe. Idk Iv never watched that show).
For me, I was reading someone who defaulted to scared, depressed, and anti social, all qualities that don't speak to me. Probably be worth your time tho if you find yourself understanding/comfortable with those qualities in a main character.
