Description

Sable didn’t know what she had expected from the afterlife, but turning into a giant flying lizard hadn’t been it.And sure, she’s been thrust into a magic-crammed fantasy world with an obscenely powerful body, but things aren’t all great, here. There’s hordes of orcs to the north, an immortal legion of undead to the south, and fourteen human kingdoms who want the first dragon in centuries to be offed sooner than yesterday—except they’re too busy warring with each other to spare the resources.Good for her?And what’s up with the [Levels], [Classes], and [Skills] stuff? Specifically, her [Hoard] and [Notoriety] stats. She gets stronger the more gold she has? The more people are terrified of her? No wonder the human kingdoms want her head on a spike, with motivations like those. Dragons in the past must have been seriously unsavory sorts. Maybe she can find less … evil … ways to progress? What are the odds taxes and propaganda can get her where she needs to be? Protection in exchange for tithes, and campaigns to make her seem scarier than she is?That would make her a politician, wouldn’t it? A giant flying lizard politician. What a headache.

I picked this story up off one of the lists on a whim, based on the good rating, title, and picture. Intending to read only the first couple of paragraphs to get a feel for the tone, I found myself immediately finishing the entire set of available chapters in a single sitting.
The author has chosen third person POV, with judicious choices of perspective switching - which always gets a plus in my book, given how easy it is to read when done well. The prose flows well, painting the picture of the story with a tone that has a good balance between the serious and light-hearted.
The biggest delight for me is our main character, Sable. Thrust abruptly into a strange world, and into a dragon’s body, complete with monstrous instincts, she still comes across as likeable, rational, and quite relatable. There is definitely a fair amount of plot around the challenges of adjusting to life as a dragon while keeping her identity as a person.
The author has indicated that kingdom building will feature as a long-term plot element alongside progression, which looks like it will quickly take the story in a much richer direction than the typical progression novels.
The LITRPG System is clear, well thought out, and does not intrude on the flow of the story, while still providing excellent hooks for progression, and hints at future developments and things to be uncovered.
All told, I’m excited to see where this story takes us, and what is in store for Sable as she figures out her new world.

I have really enjoyed this so far, and hope the story remains consistent. There has been a lack of emotinally intriguing dialogue though which I hope improves with more characters. The system is a little overbearing, with its stat-reductions, so maybe some system lore would make me feel better about it. The personalty of the MC reminds me of a female vanqusher which is reminicent and there nothing like watching arogant dragons be awesome.  The world-building has a lot of potential but remains to be seen. Personally I hope humans are not ill-logicaly overpowered which is a common trope. Fantasy humans are always bs. Oh an Anyway 5/5 so far from me.

Throughout my life I have read a lot of fantasy stories and even though I only started in the litRPG a year ago I have read dozens. This is a great story. It is interesting and set up in a way that I can see infinite possibilities to expand on the story. It is a unique setup. Even though it is stopped early it is definitely worth the read!! The thrills used are interesting. I like the Earth-based moral and ethical internal discussions in the alien world. What is moral for a human is not always the same as that of a dragon. This can be read as a light hearted story or an evaluation of humanity on a deeper level. Or as I did, as both. Dragons are great creatures as they are deep within our psyche and cultural experience. Most stories throughout history are only from the viewpoint of the person to take them down, not from the dragon itself. This story brings in the feel of life as a dragon, with its difficulties and drawbacks. The dragon hunter only sees them as the unbeatable beast but for the dragon themselves it is the fear of someone learning their secrets. They are frail and scared creatures just like the rest of us.

    no, stop.
Honestly, a really good dragon story I believe holds to the minimum quality a story with a “dragon” as a character must reach, given how fundamental they are to fiction as a whole.
I highly recommend it to anyone, maybe more so once it’s longer, but nevertheless read it nerds.

the world, the magic system, and the characters are all enjoyable to read about along with the engaging fights make this one of my favorites on this site. Even though it’s on hiatus I suggest giving this a read. I will be here when it leaves from hiatus. Three more words

It is still early on, but has been a fun read so far.
The MC reincarnates as a dragon into a litRPG world, but dragons here need a horde and to be terrifying. The MC isn't actually big on being terrifying, but watching her start trying to figure out how to be feared, while hopefully actually being benevolent, is both interesting and fun.
It's still early on, so we haven't seen much of how she goes about this, but the beginnings are there.
If you like a story about a reincarnated MC that is reborn as an overpowered and somewhat innately immortal race, but not unstoppable, I would say you should give it a try.

I've read a lot of books in the past few years, most of which have been on webnovel and I can say I've come to expect low-quality stories with barely readable grammar/punctuation whenever I look at a new book.
However, I can very happily say that A Tyrant sort of is an interesting book with a new take on the litrpg genre. The MC, Sable, feels human and you can see how she slowly grows into her new life and she doesn't immediately abandon her morals.
Overall, the story starts off relatively slow, without much background info and the author has a nasty habit of repeating themselves as if their life depends on it in earlier chapters, but you can literally see the author improving in quality as they develop their style and take critique into account.
As the chapters have progressed, I've noted that the glaring issues that I've had with the chapters have slowly but surely started to disappear and for that, my rating for this novel has risen.
At the end of the day, the novel is fulfilling its promises one by one in an interesting way, the main character still feels human and reacts to things like a normal person would and while there is a lot of exposition, I believe that this novel has the potential to be a staple on Royal Road.
In conclusion, this Novel is a fun read and improves with every chapter as the author comes into their own. I one hundred per cent recommend this!

Very enjoyable non human MC that’spowerful not but not op. Fun dynamics between characters.
Well written, great pacing. I would say that the fights can be feel a bit animalistic for lack of a better term, which can make them a bit hard to follow, but if you like brutal straight to the point action without it being overly nasty or anything you’ll love it.
MC is a delight. intelligent, shrewd and funny.

So far currently from what I've read it's pretty good I'm so somewhat in the beginning of this I will say though that I don't think she should be this clueless when it comes to like the monsters and stuff like I feel like she would have some basic knowledge on stuff like this and not none at all

Good novel. Other than some grammatical mistakes the writing is really in what I would call good ones on this site. And even though its monster isekai kingdom building concept ( I mean there are so many out there its more of a mass produced novels with established steps like xianxia) the execution is unique enough so 4.5 give or take. Anyway I am not really here for monster mc that is more concerned about doing good deeds than potentially pissing of a being that could kill her with a sneeze. So adios.
