A Tale Without a Hero

Hans of Vanor wants only three things: freedom, to help when it’s needed, and to stand up to injustice. The problem is, no one ever taught him how to do that without breaking something along the way.

In a forgotten village where days repeat like furrows in the earth, the arrival of the local peddler—bell ringing, cart creaking—brings a breath of the “outside” world and a spark in Hans’s chest. A spark that, thanks to his peculiar luck, doesn’t stay a wish—it becomes a chain. One gesture leads to another, one choice to a misunderstanding, and the butterfly effect of his impulsive kindness starts dragging him from one situation to the next… always with consequences far too big for someone who only meant to do the right thing.

Magic exists, but it isn’t given away: you have to seek it, touch it, and get it wrong before you get it right. And Hans—convinced a hero must carry everything alone—learns the hard way that the line between hero and disaster can be a single step… or knowing when to ask for help.
