A brilliant story about a general who in the greatest desertion to ever happened, decided to quietly retire to a small bakery in a rural town, trying to come to terms with the horrors of war, when suddenly he is introduced to a new neighbour, one he knows very well as he was one of the enemies generals.

This is a fairly careful piece that builds tension and resolves it and then heads towards a good conclusion in only a few short pages while balancing the matter of a dark past, secret identity and still giving enough detail to understand the sins unambiguously. The fact this works makes me overlook my nagging questions about how this baker is not up before or at the crack of dawn making the daily breads - or how little must be made on a daily basis to sate the people's needs. Perhaps the author might address that, it is really a trivial thing for me to mention. Anyways, this was a good story with strong character development and a satisfying ending. I enjoyed it!

A simple, short tale about a man enjoying the pleasure of commual life and making pastries. The drama is a war torn past and a new stranger who arrives into town.
Like a bite of chocolate on a cloudy and blue day, Mad Sadie creates a cheerful tale but meaningful bite-sized story. It is simply delightful.
