A Portal Fantasy Comedy Poem

Description

Mix an adolescent shepherd boy in love with a girl who wants to meet existentialists, a Viscount in need of an adventure, and a bland psychic. Add in a flippant god. Put them in a land made up of the after-lives of various different cultures. Stir gently. Sprinkle in some random Midgard Serpent, Genghis Khan, Scheherazade, and a cussing mocking bird. Fry lightly. Season to taste and serve with desired garnishes. Bon apetit!

A comic fantasy poetic epic, filled with misfits, slapstick routines, light romance, people shouting out the names of their battle skills before using them, old philosopher dudes running around naked, a very serious lamb, demonic knitting, battery operated magic swords and even more traumatising stuff!

I experimented with different styles in the beginning and finally settled on an ABABBCBC rhyme scheme

(Give me your 0.5s. Gimme, gimme, gimme. I'm collecting them, seriously)

My overall impression of this piece is “hmm, ya, wow”
If you like a wild trip you should dive in headfirst now
If you’re into poetry, the story should flow fine
If you’re new to poems, then it might take a glass of wine
The style evolves and grows like an organic form of life
But there’s some heavy action that cuts through it like a knife
It may take some getting used to, but it works quite well
It’s a unique format for the story it can tell
The story flows from scene to scene like one big crazy dream
Plot points come and go like they are flowing down a stream
I wish it was more fleshed out, but it’s a lot of fun
One moment it’s raining, and the next, oh look the sun!
Grammar is a matter of opinion in this case
Poetry and prose are hardly running the same race
Basically, the meaning’s clear in every scene and verse
It’s all fun the way the people think, speak, and converse
The characters are so much fun, and there is quite a cast
They include some gods and fairy tale folks from the past
Once again, i’d love to see them more fleshed out but still
If the author keeps this up, perhaps one day he will
On this royal road, there is a tale of every kind
But there’s nothing on the site that’s quite like this you’ll find
I’ll conclude by saying this is special and unique
Maybe it’s like nothing you’ve read, but it’s worth a peak
