A Mage and a Monster

David Bennett is not in his world, and he's rather happy about that fact. He wasn't particularly fond of his old one, and this one has two important commodities in plentiful supply: magic, and fools. He's loaded up on the former, and now he's primarily working with the latter. He also saw his future self one time, and he's pretty excited about that too.

Leila of Sylvier is a woman beyond her lifespan, and really, she's pretty jazzed about that too, considering how hard she's worked to survive past her death. She's very definitely not a fool, and she works pretty hard to maintain that state as well. She is, however, rather bored. Time gets stale after a while.

Leila of Sylvier is a vampire, and David Bennett would like to figure out how that works, exactly. Leila has nothing better to do, at the moment.

The vampire curse is a rather complicated secret. Bennett and Leila are going to uncover it. They may burn down a few nations in the process. No big deal. It'll be fun.

Ok, so it turns out that this was not the kind of story that flourished under serial release, and also I should have generated a backlog before I published anything. I'm working on something else now, specifically something that at no point do I intend to do time travel with, and I am going to start publishing that once I have the first part done and the second part on its way.
