Alister is a street urchin that just wants to be left alone under her bridge to read all day. Theirdra is a grizzled witch who just wants to be left alone to forget her past. But the world changes, and forces far beyond either of their understandings conspire to drive them together; no matter what either wants. Now they must learn to coexist, each one using their strength to support the other, lest a growing threat crush them and the entire world beneath its ambitions.
