- Shaka AlekRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I won't be going into this saying stuff about writing, I'd have no idea how to do that. I'll just go for my subjective opinion on what it does right to get my attention.
I like the protagonist, she's not all powerful, she has weaknesses and limitations and the will to work to overcome them. And she feels human, someone I can empathize with.
The world and how it works is interesting and, while still not super developed, we get to learn about it slowly, bit by bit, as Vina, the protagonist, experiences it. The system is very interesting and tied to the plot, not just something that is there with no reason. Also,
blood skills, I like blood skills
.
Give it a try, it's worth it. It is still early in the story, but I think it's already in a good place, and it has promise. - SparkleTopRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a fresh take on an Isekai litrpg. It's very well written grammatically/stylistically, and the characters feel distinct. There are some pov switches that provide good contrasting perspectives. The story is engaging, and I binged the whole thing in one sitting. I can't wait to see where it goes!
- Krakenkllr123Royal Road★★★★ 4.0As I said in the title I liked the story, hell I even binged it, however, the story advances at a breakneck pace with absolutely no breathing room for the events that occur. Vina, the protagonist, is dragged from one situation to the next with no time to even stop and smell the roses. One day she is in a class at the Watch the next she is at a bandit camp, immediately followed by going to a haunted city(not exactly but close enough). It takes away from the flow of the story when events occur so quickly, for example, I believe the author wanted to convey that Ebba was not all evil and Vina genuinely feels regret and remorse over having to kill her, but no time is taken to contextualize her emotions because she is immediately thrown into the next life or death situation.
- DarkTsunderRoyal Road★★★ 2.5At the time of writing this I come to it with mixed feelings and I hope my words get across what I mean correctly.
There are several times where the story starts down a path, does the setup rather well, and then abandons that path almost immediately. At a couple of points it kind of works for me. The last one however is extremely egregious and flat out abandons over five chapters of setup. The world building aspect doesn't overall suffer from this, but the character plot threads take a strong hit.
My other major problem is that the epilogues are more like interludes. Instead of tying something up, they expand the world and function as setup for arcs of side characters. They are labeled as endpoints, but feel like a multi-chapter long 'to be continued'. I can appreciate that stories take a long time to plan out and longer to write, but for me this just left everything on a sour note that wouldn't have been present if it just ended on that last chapter with the main character.
Otherwise it was a solid read and I enjoyed it until I got to past the end. I hope you continue to write.
