- MajorMagersRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think that this was a good story and that the MC was interesting even if he was a super lucky bastard. Does not deserve the raiting gnarlytreeman gave.
The magic in this book is a fresh look on the Lit-RPG that I love. Think closer to Erigon with less risk and no words. - anraeyRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I don't exactly know how to explain it, but the characters seem to lack some depth or oomph. Characters seem to lack personality. The author just tells you what they are like, but he does not show you, and even then the descriptions he gives are contrary to their actions.
*spoilers*
First off, the deal with the therapist. The elderly gentlemen is completely unprofessional, not something one would expect from an expensive and experienced practicant. He completely disregards the patient's problem, and even insinuates that the main character, Phillip, was a fanatical nut job. This happens after Phillip opens up for the first time about a worry that has been plaguing him since his early youth. If a person feels the need to hire a therapist to talk about a problem it should not be so easily dismissed. It could very well be something that has been eating up Philip's mind for years, a source of stress, sleepless nights, and might even be a barrier towards social life. The fear of being ridiculed for believing in magic.
Onwards to the library. Angelica, the librarian’s granddaughter, likes the main character for being normal with her. The only scene of them interacting is an exchange of names when the librarian is leading Phillip away. Not enough interaction to make a deep impression. The author does say that they talked while Philip was working, but we have no idea how that conversation went. A missed opportunity to give some depth to the characters. Instead the author just expects us to fill in the blank, and assume the best. We know nothing of Angelica, and barely anything from Philip; no way to imagine an interaction between them. Then the granny basically coerces him into visiting as if offering up the fifteen year old.

I say the author needs to think more about his characters and present that to us through action, not descriptions. We do not know the characters, nor how you as the author thought them up. All we have are what you have written, and des - gnarlytreemanRoyal Road★★ 2.0Well i read to chapter 5 and just didn't like it. The first ch or so was ok, but the creepo ai goddess, and the mc's attitude and general blah, no buildup etc made me say "nope this is gonna suck cause of lame intros to possibly awesome plot elements". So i quit reading rather than regret it later.
