A Crumbling Empire

Himari is the daughter of the Captain of the Emperor's chosen; an elite fighting force that is dedicated to the utter protection of the Fortieth Emperor of the country of Seifu. Burdened by her father's reputation and expectation, she struggles with both her desire to live up to her father's legacy and her desire to live a life she wants.

Maiko is a former assassin, desperate to escape the life of murder and pain that she was forced into when she was barely old enough to walk. She knows she can never be forgiven for her past, but she hopes against hope that she can at least live the remainder of her days in peace with her fox friend.
