Description
When a dying young woman’s last-ditch effort for another chance at life unexpectedly pays off, she Awakens as Zia, a kobold in the middle of her coming-of-age ritual. Freed of the prison of her former life and determined to make the most of it, Zia throws herself into her new existence. After all, now that she's in an epic fantasy world of sigils, dragons, and power-granting gemstones, what's not to love?Well, a few things, actually. For one, she’s got the terrible reputation of her body’s previous occupant to contend with. Then there’s the confusing unfamiliarity of kobold culture, the terrifying monsters, the acid, the heights…oh, and the shadow of war looming on the horizon.
But hey, still beats being human.
This is a romantic, polyamorous, isekai progression fantasy about a pansexual human-turned-kobold attending kobold magic school. Expect a story with light litRPG aspects that gradually builds from slice-of-life into something more epic.Book One of the Chronicle of the Corrupted

- oort objectRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Now, as a rule I do not generally review works this early but this one's absolutely seized my attention. Compelling combination of an intriguing and fantastic world, a tragedy shrouded in mystery, and of course, a fair helping of queer relationships and lust. All solidly written. I look forward to more from the author.
- Elephant in the RoomRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really enjoyed this book. I just binge read all 40 chapters in a couple days. Before starting, I didn't realize it's been forever since this story went on a seemingly permanent hiatus (imagine my horror when I got to chapter 40, only to realise it was released !3 YEARS AGO!). Just want you to know I really enjoyed the read. You strung me along, built the tension and stopped writing right as my heart was pumping. I don't think I'll ever recover. This seriously felt like an unexpected break up or something. I thought we had a good thing going lol. Even if it's been too long for you to jump back into this book, if you gave writing another go I would definitely read it. All the best with whatever you're up to.
- KakunaBanditRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I haven't been gripped by a new story quite so quickly in a long time, and reaching the end of the backlog was actually painful. Gonna have to put this one in the "check weekly for updates" folder.
The kobold society is really darn cool and the MC has a lot more agency in the "isekai" process than usual, which is fun, and the story seems a lot less absorbed with precise progression mechanics than something like a LitRPG. Very bingeable, never seems to find anywhere to get bogged down - which is a rare luxury when delving for random stories on webfiction sites.
The magic system is also really cool - Sorting styles of magic by gem is very thematic given the setting is based around Kobold society in particular, and I love the idea that the source of their magic is literally a gem shoved into their chests. Very cool
The author is also a talented artist, and their art of the main cast is absolutely beautiful, helps a lot to get the inhuman characters' images in your head. Especially relevant given the strangeness of sex and gender in this setting the visual aid is very nice.
I look forward to seeing where this story goes and following the author's promising career. Looking forward to the drama once the MC finally sinks her teeth into a cute Skyborn or three! Do it, girl, you deserve it - XekriRedmaneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The chapters drew me in, wanting to read more. I appreciated the troubles of a kobold isekaied into a world in which she knows nothing about herself, and has to learn along the way. The dialog was natural, and the interspersed prose was not an infodump. This is a well-written story, and I wish there were an Amazon link so that I could get it as an e-book.
- BansheePandaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm absolute sh*te at reviewing, but I wanted to leave one, even if it's short, because this is a rare gem in a relatively uncommon niche that deserves some love.
Poly romance is one of my favorite genres, and when you add that to portal fantasy/isekai, that is just great! Mix in coherent and interesting world building, and I'll sell my soul to have you write more chapters. Bonus hearts for having a nonhuman MC.
Sigil crafting on its own is an interesting branch of esoterica, so I'm looking forward to some more of that later.
Kudos to BiKobold for the great story! - BeyogiRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So far this seems to be a hard-mode Isekai. Not born as a baby with the memories of an adult, or popping up as yourself in a strange world, but replacing someone else... and in this case the person in question is not well liked.
Not much has happened so far, but it seems pretty clear this new life won't be a cakewalk for our protagonist.
I'd recommend a read, I found it interesting so far. - Jerry_RiggingsRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall: This is a well paced and thought out story hampered heavily by us being only a few steps into it. Take a published book and try to read just a page a day and stop no matter where it lands. The better the story the worse that feeling of not having the next page hurts. This story doesn't use your memories of other stories as a crutch to skip ahead but builds the world, species, society, story, and characters as we read so if you aren't willing to invest more than a moment to understand the author's creation instead of riding your nostalgia and what others have already decided their worlds are then move on.
Story: This is a rather unique setting as far as I have read. With a solid isekai start that sets up the main character in their old and new world, and how it happened without resorting to the usual hit by a truck. It's even clever by making it a shared talent across dimensions. The author also seems to avoid cringe moments and has taken the effort to introduce the reader to the new world as smoothly as possible without damaging character development.
The Kobold Race: These are NOT D&D Kobolds. They aren't purely reptilian or the dog Cobolds we see in manga. If you go in with a hardline view of how lizard folk should act they aren't that either and that's not a bad thing. They are a reimagining of how the author sees their Kobolds. Don't cripple this story with preconceived notions.
The Magic: This is a hard magic system with a set of rules that gives you most of the broad strokes on chapter thirty. You're gonna be stumbling as much as the main character is until then to really understand what's going on but it feels intentional.
The gems themselves impart specific spells but also have intrinsic abilities linked to the gems.
Diamond: Elemental suite (Think black mage) Control over the elements
Sapphire: Enhance their mental abilities. Mental supercomputer.
Jasper: Enhance their physical abilities and body modifications.
Topaz: Charisma and glamour. (Want su - gilesfayRoyal Road★★★ 2.5i think this would be better if it wasint an isekai it starts at the same place but insted of a confused girl who dosent know whats going on you have kia a young kolbold whos mistaks haunt her about to take a large step froward in life and maby make up for her mistakes insted you have a confused girle stumbling around asking eveyone she meets for awkward exposition
- MontenegroRoyal Road★★ 2.0There's nothing drawing me into the story and making me to want to read more. The only interesting part was how she became a kobold. Other than that I don't feel attached to the character, so any stakes that come up feel empty. The way everyone conducts themselves(the kobolds) feels shallow and made up. Not like how an authentic lizard species would behave. They are more like humans with weird mindsets. The magic is basically loreless, and I feel no amazement at it. It's just some quirk. The mc also rubs me the wrong way, because if someone was put in such a scenario they would not respond in such a ridiculous way. The reason I'm so passionate in this response is that I really liked the setup, the execution was just terrible.
