Description
A girl escaping from a marriage. An ancient family. A power long forgotten.
Althea wished she could transmigrate into a different world. Even a book would do. And one day she did. But there was a teensy tiny problem.
The character she transmigrated into was the cannon fodder fiance of the male lead. The misunderstood girl that ends up sacrificing herself in the final battle after spending her last days in jail, accused of murder.
So she does the thing her books taught her. Tear the engagement and let the lovebirds deal with each other. That is about when things began tochange.

- DangerDaniganRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have to be honest, I don't comprehend or agree with the 2-3 star reviews I see of this fiction. This site seems to excel at "shonen jump" style fiction, where you would swear people were paid by the word. This story actually feels like it's building to something meaningful, and I won't need to wait 3 years with 13 hiatuses to actually see what it is. Thank god.
The world is intriguing, the characters, while a little flat, seem to actually have some worked out motivations, goals and thought processes. Not as 1 dimensional as a lot of the characters I've seen on RR, but maybe not fully 3 either. The power system, I feel, is a solid mesh of a few ideas that makes plenty of sense.
And, beyond all of that, I find myself invested. There are so many stories on this site that I stop reading after 15-20 chapters. The repetitive, stale blandness puts me to sleep and I just have to stop. For goodness sake, this is original. It's different. It's... a little bit LitRPG a little bit Dumas, a little bit Austen, and for gods sake I love it for that.
Thank you, author, for trying something different. I love it. - Jang112Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Saw the story on the trending section, luckily, gave it a shot since i've been into the whole Villainess genre recently, and it was such a great decision.
The main character is likeable and has depth and growth, sometimes a bit too much but not excessively. There's a lot of points where the story feels 'rushed', but not really, it's like skipping a few thousand words of explanation and simply giving it a single sentence that encapsulates the whole thing. It can be a bit disheartening since there's less to read, but also very gratifying because we can see the author isn't just farming word count.
The cultivation system is actually very good, there's not much information other than snippets we get here and there, but the powers are solid, the MC isn't unique since there's other clans with manuals as powerful as hers, although apparently hers is still a bit ahead, but if it wasn't she wouldn't be an mc i guess. There's a great variety of manuals, an even greater variety of element and types of energy, different races with focus on different aspects, it's simple yet somehow fascinating.
The worldbuilding is good albeit slow and simple-ish. Most races seem to keep to themselves in their respective continent, and right now our focus is on humans obviously, but i'm very excited to get a look at other continents and their cultures and power, there's a lot of room here for growth.
Overall recommend a read, it's fun, don't need to take it too seriously, and it's not a novel u need to overwork your brain to understand, very to the point, something that is good at times. - CthulhuMattRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I enjoyed the story and wanted to know more of the characters and development of the plot. I understand and empathise with the author that life can get in the way. I will remain a follower of the author and hope that they write something else or pick this back up in the future.
- NunyaBizznessRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like the idea because it's a common one, yet oftentimes poorly executed as a romance. You have readers wanting a powerful female lead who surpasses all of her peers in either swordsmanship or business, but then some mysterious Duke or whatever comes out of nowhere and man handles everything to a disgusting degree. Now I won't exactly say that I've gotten far enough to give a reliable review, but there are some issues I'm having with the story. If it were any less connected, I'd liken the whole thing to a fever dream. One minute I'm reading about her in her room, and the next second she's having an audience with the Empress. "I'll lead the soldiers into battle" and 2 paragraphs later she's in some court room. The transition is groggy. Unless this is just an issue on my part, because I DO tend to accidentally just bypass certain details, it feels like a major flaw. Still gonna read it tmrw. Maybe I'm just too tired because its 2 AM. Unreliable review I guess.
- RoyalTurtleRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I was worried going into this story having read some of the reviews, but I'm honestly puzzled because it seems like we're not reading the same thing.
A Countess' Magic is an Isekai into a book world where a young girl is in the unenviable position of knowing the future (plot), but knowing very little details of the side character she's become. The method of starting with hoe minimal exposition is as we're thrust into the massively flawed narrative of a girl put in a bad spot is very refreshing. We know very little about anything and have to figure it out along with our main character while we don't even know much about her or if it's even just one her we're watching.
The world has many kinds of magic, but the ones used by humans is called cultivation. I think this term has bothered people because it's not traditional Eastern martial culltivation, but are instead magic books that require arbitrary conditions (a girl, over 7 feet tall, rock affinity, etc) to even use and then each tier of power has its own arbitrary growth mechanism, spells, and ambiguous system. It shifts the magic system to be the resource to be used to control power for countries as a whole and a venomous political strata across countries and even within as the country of our MCs residence has recently recovered from a civil war.
Althea truly has to struggle in this world where everything is hidden and weakness is something to be exploited. The one she's merged with has powerful allies to help prevent immediate loss, but it's just a delay until she has to come into her own and find permanent allies of her own.
The plot is very addicting and I want more. - MoonlightGardensRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5If you’re looking for a tale of assassinations and eminent threats, then this doesn’t seem like your kind of story. If you’re more interested in personal stakes, some mystery, and possibly drama, though, then it’s worth checking out.
Style (4.5/5)
Overall, it isn’t bad. There are a few issues with information seeming forced and a few odd sentences here and there. I also found a few points where I felt more information was necessary to understand it. It does describe things relatively well, though.
Story (4.5/5)
The beginning feels more like plot convenience than anything else. But, after that, I don’t have too many complaints about it. It stays true to the synopsis, seeming to possess lower stakes than a world-altering adventure. Or at least, that was the impression I got after what I read.
Grammar (4.5/5)
There are more than a few grammar errors that I spotted while I was reading. They’re not very common, though, and usually minor.
Character (4.5/5)
I’m not sure if it’s my terrible memory, something on part of the author, or a combination of both, but I found it hard to remember who was who. They blurred together since I didn’t really find anything truly special about any of them. - JwmcdanRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This story was a pleasant surprise. The transition into the world feels a little abrupt but Althea, our MC is likeable and fun to read about. It's early on and we are just being introduced to the world but there is a solid story in here.
The grammar, style, characterization and worldbuilding are all excellent.
You can tell the author has put a lot of thought into this. I look forward to following this story.
Give it a shot. - BrGastlRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This story has the ability to be stereotypical, unstereotypical and somehow being rough on the edges with seemingly not much thought and the reverse being thought through and quite detailed. I think it has to do with the author being on the more undisciplined writer side, especially newer chapters have a ton of mistakes in it until they get polished. Which makes it rather hard to rate, when you consider newer reader won´t see those chapter happening. Anyway just don´t expect the writing always being a constant in terms of pacing, writing techniques or grammar, but also not bad enough to be considered offensive.
If you ask me about the story I think the main theme of this Story is exploring a world with Xianxia and Esoteric(no tables)-Fantasy-System elements out of a from rags to riches perspective of a girl. Though said system is incomplete/broken/damaged and as such we explore an expanding system which expand with the understanding of the girl, who seem on a way to declare the renaissance of said sytsem. The intrigue and greater powers are just a way to push the girl into deeper understanding.
This makes this story stereotypical, but also fascinating, since the system and power dynamics are ever changing. I have trouble naming another novel which is system-based and the system seems to be part of the progress the MC makes. This makes somehow the novel much more interesting since there is so much more thought put into the system+xianxia parts, with the MC actually exploring and slowly developing instead of just gaining those skill after timeskips or some weird MC Plot armor fight. And even though sometimes I find some arcs regarding political plots not optimally written, since there is much more potential in some of them (undisciplined author remember), I find sometimes myself wondering how I would have written it or why I find that not optimally written. Its a novel which isn´t perfect, but somehow manages that way to drag me with me.
The character unfortunately - Astral CrystalRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A countess magic is a fun and entertaining story which combines various genres and aspects from the kinds of stories you find online like cultivation, systems, reincarnation as a noble etc.
The style is good although the pace is a bit wonky at times and occasionally it starts a chapter and I'm confused as to what's happening until it clears it up.
The story is an amalgamation of various concepts seen in web novels. It's able to blend them toghether well although some aspects definitely get more attention and exploration than others. She reincarnated into a novel but this doesn't really matter much at the moment apart from starting the plot and her first actions, her knowledge from reading the story also doesn't help too much since she keeps getting into situations and discovering stuff that wasn't mentioned in the original story. The cultivation is present and is mainly for plot purposes and cool powers, the mc is op in this aspect so she mainly focuses on the political side instead of grinding for power. The system is present and has some story importance for some of the events that happen to the mc, but apart from that it hasn't come up much and unfortunately we don't get to see how it affects other characters. The main aspects of this story are definitely the politics which are juicy and interesting and the kingdom building which is fun and thankfully it doesn't go into too much detail making it boring, it focuses on the fun parts by skipping the boring parts of managing territory. The plot is interesting and there are schemes and ancient mysteries to be discovered. I also really like others reactions to the various events and occurrences near mc. You can tell they are serious tired of having to deal with so many world changing shenanigans and plot twists.
The grammar is great I don't remember seeing any errors.
The characters are fun and entertaining I like them. They are the kinds of characters you'd find in a fantasy politics novel. The mc doesn't show too muc - vtech1855Royal Road★★★★ 3.5I am really enjoying this story, but there is a lot of room for improvment. The pacing is steady and there haven't been any cliffhangers. The MC doesn't know everything and isn't OP, so that's nice. Despite everything I say below, I will continue to read this story.
The author needs to run a spell check at least once before posting. Even the name of the MC gets misspelled.
The descriptions of settings are brief and often not enough, or are repeated.
One section of a room was described as having 3 rows of guards in it but doesn't tell us anything about them. Like, is it just 2 people per row?
A few paragraphs before this, in the same chapter, one room was described as having 3 rows of maids in it.
What's the deal with 3 rows of people?
The author also repeats themself often when a thesaurus could be used to provide alternate word choices.
"...coronation has instructions." Steward Ven instructed.
There's little to no background of the MC. Before she was transmigrated she attended school that had etiquette and "event" classes but also is likely from around our time as they know about the phrase "transmigration". Who is this person we're following? I think the author should spend some time writing about the characters we're reading. Like, who are they? What is their motivation? Where did they come from and how did they end up here?
