- Apfelkuchen13Royal Roadâ â â â â 5.0I love the story even when the chapter are quite short ⊠and my other gripe is if you read the advanced chapter on Patreon they are pdf file's that you have to download otherwise a great story quite funny and a great read on short bus rides or in breaks at work đ
- Sergeant SorenRoyal Roadâ â â 2.5The story is incredibly fast paced, and the writing doesn't make understanding it any easier!
The author, in the span of 200 words, describes being reincarnated as the son of a rogue trader, piloting a knight, being cybernetically augmented and a bunch of other stuff that ought to have taken up at least a thousand, two thousands words of detailed explanations.
Nope, just casts out that info as one would mention buying a new pair of socks. No shock, no anticipation or fear by the character. Just 'oh fun I died now lets pilot a knight vroooom'.
Then you have the story. Bloody hell this is a mess. The main character gets an technological modification idea that we can barely understand even after reading the text for some time. Then he implements it without backlash (very few mentions of tech-heresy!).
Then they sell a few ships to the mechanicum that they just happened to have (ok, a plausible explanation is provided), and the main character does some tax evasion stuff that takes up more text than becoming a knight pilot!
Then we get a...description of the ships he buys. He explains the 'gear' on the warships with...rarity tags. Rare, super rare, expensive, good, +health, +shield. My dear brother in the Emperor;'s eyes, please describe your ships properly.
Sure, if one attempts to read the description they can get a rough understanding of the ships' characteristics, but the text doesn't make it fun! Where's the paragraph long explanation of how morbidly backwards yet explosive the torpedoes are?
If you want to focus on the lore of Warhammer, please describe it well. I don't want to have to go to the 40K wiki every time i don't know something about the universe.
All in all this is an honest attempt at 40K fan-fiction, but...it needs work
